LUMIO

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how LUMIO handles information when you use the LUMIO mobile application and its account and Family features.

Last updated: August 13, 2026

1. Who we are

LUMIO is a personal budgeting application designed to help users plan monthly spending, track expenses, protect savings goals, and, when enabled, share a household budget through LUMIO Family.

Privacy questions can be sent to lumioprivacy@gmail.com.

2. Information you provide

Depending on the features you use, LUMIO may process information that you enter directly into the app, including:

  • account email address and display name;
  • monthly income and planned fixed expenses;
  • savings goals and next income or salary date;
  • expense amounts, categories, notes, and timestamps;
  • Family membership and shared household budget information;
  • invite codes used to join a LUMIO Family.
LUMIO does not require bank-account synchronization to use its budgeting features. Financial information in LUMIO is information you choose to enter yourself.

3. Local data on your device

Some budgeting data may be stored locally on your device so that core budgeting features can work quickly and remain available during normal app use.

Local app data can generally be removed by deleting the app or clearing the app's storage through your device settings.

4. Account and cloud data

When you create or use a LUMIO account, authentication and certain account-related or shared Family information are processed using Supabase, which provides backend, authentication, database, and synchronization services for LUMIO.

LUMIO uses account authentication so that shared Family data can be associated with the correct users and accessed across different devices.

5. LUMIO Family

LUMIO Family is intended for users who choose to share one household budget. Members of the same Family may be able to view shared budget settings, shared expenses, and membership information associated with that Family.

Information entered into a shared Family budget should therefore be treated as information that may be visible to the other members of that Family.

6. How we use information

LUMIO uses information only as needed to provide and improve app functionality, including to:

  • create and authenticate user accounts;
  • calculate budgets, balances, and spending information;
  • save and display user-entered expenses;
  • provide LUMIO Family sharing and synchronization;
  • maintain app security and prevent unauthorized access;
  • diagnose technical problems and maintain service reliability.

7. Sharing of information

LUMIO does not sell your personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate LUMIO, such as Supabase for authentication, database, and Family synchronization services.

We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights, or integrity of LUMIO and its users.

8. Data retention

Account-related cloud data is retained while it is needed to provide your LUMIO account and related features, unless a longer period is required by law.

When an account is deleted, account-linked data is deleted or removed in accordance with LUMIO's backend deletion rules. Shared Family data may also be affected when the account being deleted owns the Family.

9. Account deletion

You can initiate deletion of your LUMIO account directly from the app:

Settings → Account → Delete account

The app displays a confirmation before deletion. Account deletion is intended to be permanent and cannot be undone after it has completed.

LUMIO may also provide a web-based account-deletion information or request page for users who no longer have access to the app.

10. Security

LUMIO uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect account and app information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for not sharing your password with others.

11. Children's privacy

LUMIO is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age required to provide valid consent under applicable law.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to LUMIO inappropriately, contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.

12. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, or other handling of your personal information.

To make a privacy request, contact lumioprivacy@gmail.com.

13. International processing

Service providers used by LUMIO may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, appropriate safeguards should be used for such processing.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when LUMIO changes its features, service providers, or data practices. The latest version will be made available on this page, together with the date of the most recent update.
